Managing Partner
Ms. Cohen has been a marketing executive for nearly thirty years. As Managing Partner of Songmasters, she is responsible for the design and coordination of all Songmasters’ integrated marketing and brand communications programs and for the coordination and oversight of the international marketing and distribution activities of Songmasters’ music services. Cohen also develops successful sponsorship and co-promotions with major corporations, both through cause-related marketing efforts and as direct marketing tools. Additionally, Jen advises non–profit organizations on business development, strategic planning, brand communications and marketing.
Ms. Cohen is the creative force behind Songmasters, both in conceiving and designing its new and innovative program directions for the company overall and for the individual initiatives we develop for our clients. Recent examples include initiative for Excelencia in education to launch its innovative Seal of Excelencia and POBA | Where The Arts Live® – developed for a family foundation to serve as a dynamic and ground-breaking virtual, multi-media cultural arts center and resource for the families, agents and estates of talented deceased artists. She re-imagined the consumer face and outreach of health care exchanges, as seen in the design and development of the first-ever revenue generating platform for a state exchange, developed for Health Source RI; and a new business model for revenue generation and more for Wellfleet Harbor Actors’ Theater, the premier Equity theater on Cape Cod. Jen spearheaded the development of S’Well,® an educational and entertainment-based program to create and sustain a national conversation on family and women’s health. She executive produced the acclaimed platform, Listen to Me®, celebrating the True. Great. Original.® artists of American music while supporting the next generation of music’s greats through sponsorship of the Holly Prize since 2009. She Co-Executive Produced and released the multi-award winning album Listen to Me: Buddy Holly® and the related concert and PBS special, The Ultimate Buddy Party® which benefited PBS, the Grammy Foundation and Artists House Music.
Jen has worked in all areas of domestic and international branding and marketing, press and PR, distribution and finance in the recorded music industry. For example, Jen created and launched the product management department at WEA International (now Warner Music International) and as its Director ran the U.S. marketing of all artists signed to the company’s 47 foreign affiliates and of all WEA International artists abroad. As VP for Product Development, she had oversight of all areas of creative services, marketing coordination and artist development for the company’s operations in over 65 countries. She also oversaw the international videos and tours for Warner, Elektra, Atlantic, Geffen, and Maverick Records.
For Time Warner she served as the international representative at all Time Warner Music Group label/financial meetings and spearheaded Time Warner’s acquisition strategy of companies engaged in various aspects of video and multi-media production and delivery. Because of her extensive experience in the negotiation of domestic and international licensing agreements, she was responsible for opening several new markets, including China, for the Warner Music Group.
Cohen established Songmasters in order to produce events and recordings of trademark artists that would benefit charitable endeavors. Among others, she co-created, produced and wrote the acclaimed series, Songmasters’ Inside-Out® and numerous, large-scale public and private performances for other charitable groups including the Reebok Human Rights Awards, AmFAR, The 50th Anniversary/U.N. Declaration of Human Rights, Goodwill Games, the broadcast of Christmas at the Vatican, all private music events associated with Emigrant’s Building the Future [One Life At A Time], and the Komen Race for the Cure, to name a few.
