Peter Asher’s legendary music career began in 1964 as one-half of the singing duo Peter & Gordon, who amassed nine “Top 20” records during their career. After heading A & R for the Beatles’ record company, Apple, Asher then founded Peter Asher Management, which has become one of the most successful Artist Management companies in the U.S. Asher’s roster of clients includes such world-class recording artists as James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newmanand Carole King. As a producer, Asher has worked with such diverse artists as Billy Joel, Morrissey, Elvis Costello, 10,000 Maniacs, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstadt, Ringo Starr, Cher, Robin Williams, Jane Monheit, Robbie Williams, Kenny Loggins, Heart, The Dixie Chicks, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Hans Zimmer and many others including the exceptional roster of  artists featured on Songmasters’ productions, such as Stevie Nicks, Jackson Brown, Patrick Stump, Cobra Starship, and dozens more. His productions have been awarded 37 RIAA-certified gold albums and 22 platinum albums in the U.S., and many more internationally. In addition, Peter has produced 12 Grammy® Award-winning recordings, and has twice been honored individually with the Grammy Award for Producer of the Year. The PBS special and the shorter studio session mini-documentaries for Songmasters’ tributes to Buddy Holly (Listen To Me: Buddy Holly®  and The Ultimate Buddy Party®), for which Peter produced the music, received multiple awards, while a related album ranked among the top 3 sellers on Amazon at the time of release. He has also received numerous international awards and currently serves as a member of the Recording Academy’s Board of Governors.  In 2015,  Asher was recognized as a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his contributions to the British music industry. Incredibly accomplished, Sir Peter’s most recent achievements include a Tony Award for his part in musical production of the 2016 Broadway hit, Bright Star.
